Self-Love Is the New Self-Discipline Podcast
MindTalk by HeyZen
What “self-love” conjures up in your mind? A hot bubbly bath or a cup of hot coffee in the early mornings? It may be! But there’s another form of self-love that’s often neglected as it’s more difficult to practice. This form is self-discipline.
Inside MindTalk: Self-Discipline, the Mature Form of Self-Love
Do you remember how in your childhood you might not have wanted to go to school, but your parents imposed limits on your bed and screen time, woke you up early in the morning, and made you do your homework, even though you’d gladly do something more fun instead?
Now, we understand that all of this they did out of care and love for you to allow you to create the personal and professional life you deserve. Back then, however, we thought they were harsh and unjust towards us.
Try to apply the same pattern to your inner parent and child now. The child may want to spend more time scrolling a feed, making excuses, and trying to idle for as much time as possible. However, your caring parent should gently ask the child to focus on tasks for personal development and redirect the attention to something more productive.
In this episode of MindTalk, we share with you actionable steps on how to tune the communication between your inner parent and inner child by building up self-control and discipline. For example, one of the solutions is to practice self-compassion and become more forgiving towards yourself. Also, we’ll uncover more tips on how to reframe the idea of discipline and think of it not as something limiting but as a path toward self-development and personal growth.
Remember, you’re the one responsible for your own life story, and all the answers already lie within yourself! There are no more strict parents trying to force you into actions you don’t like, but only you creating the life of your dreams. So, let’s start getting self-disciplined and fill ourselves with even more love through the strength grown out of it!
